Kitchen Island

A few weeks ago Derek and I found this super cute table at Rockin B Antiques and spent a mere $119 on it. The table was in pretty good condition and really just needed a good paint job.
I decided to get creative and add some bars for hanging things, hooks for holding bento bag lunches for our picnics and maybe a towel from time to time and attached mason jars for planting some pretty green plants in. Right now we use the island to keep our bento boxes, a toaster, and our gardening supplies. Later I am going to add a bottle opener to one of the sides. Well here are some photos. Ignore the rest of the kitchen. I'm dreaming of a light green kitchen with white cabinets and wood counter tops. Soon!

Before and After

This revamping of this cute little table from the thrift store only took maybe an hour tops! The sun kept the table so warm while painting that I never had to actually wait for the paint to dry! How wonderful! I am in love with the new look and was able to just use paint that we already had which made the project super cheap! $10!

Our plants

A few of our little plants.
Lately Derek and I have been putting in a special amount of effort into decorating around the house. Our house warming party is less than a month away and I want to make sure everything looks perfect. We have put up a new white dresser in the foyer to hold blankets, art supplies, mail, and all sorts of other things. We really have NO closet space in this house so the more dressers we have the better. We just purchased an old kitchen island from our a local antique store in Sharpsburg. The top of it is actually made out of an old door! So cute. I'm going to be repainting it--white and adding hooks and what not. I also went thrifting and found an adorable little table perfect to use as a nigh stand. The last shelf I was using kept rocking and I kept banging my eye and face into the side of it while I slept. How annoying! Our floors are also crooked so it kept rocking so I thought it was important to find a table with nice long legs that would go around the areas of this crooked area. The funny things about buying a really old house, I guess. If your haven't noticed I've become really obsessed with spray painting! Thanks to Apartment Therapy where I got the idea. Derek and I also bought plants for around the house. Our kitchen is packed along the window. We can't wait to get everything together this month. I really love home projects.

Sorry!

It sure has been awhile! I am sorry for my lack of updates as I have been such a busy lady lately and when I get home in the evening I'm ready to curl up on my couch, watch Netflix and go to sleep by 8:30. I feel very old! These past few months have been really great! Derek and I will celebrate our 8 month anniversary on the 18th. The only complaints I have is that our bills keep changing all the time due to certain lame circumstances that have nothing to do with us. Oh well, guess it comes with the territory of buying a house. Our house quickly started looking like a home. I mean, we're not done decorating as i have all these wonderful ideas, but for now my house suites me well. I am having lots of fun playing with colors and don't mind experimenting with things some people may not think would look good. Anyways, I am going to try to update this once or twice a week for now on. Things that are coming up that I would like to post in the near future:
-tour of inside the home
-redoing and planting grass and flowers in the front yard
-possible remodel of our kitchen (??) we'll see when taxes are returned
